ATTENTION ALL YOUNG FILMMAKERS AND ACTORS:
Join us for the first ever Youth Fly Filmmaking Experience, a partnership between the Seattle International Film Festival and Longhouse Media's NATIVE LENS program.
What is Fly Filmmaking? An extremely artistic, creative, and stimulating form of filmmaking in which local filmmakers and actors are able to showcase their skills, collaborate with other artists, and premier their work at the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF)! Based on the incredibly short duration of time allotted to the filmmakers and actors, this process can be referred to as "on the fly," hence the name: Fly Filmmaking.
When: June 8th 8pm thru June 9th 8pm, SIFF Premiere on Saturday June 10th
Where: The Swinomish Reservation (1-½ hours north of Seattle in La Conner. Transportation will be provided for those in need.)
If chosen to participate you will:
* Work with 25 other youth filmmakers and actors for 24 hours to plan shoot and edit a short film.
* Screen your finished film at the launch of Future Wave, SIFF's premier youth film festival.
* Meet local adult filmmakers, actors, guest artists, and storytellers.
* Spend a night on the beautiful Swinomish Reservation in La Conner, eat Fry Bread and other traditional Native American foods.
* Meet a lot of interesting people, make friends, and make movies!
If you have any questions feel free to contact Annie Silverstein at as_nativelens@mac.com (tel) 206-778-8394, Tracy Rector at nativelens@mac.com (tel) 206-387-2468 or check out our website at www.longhousemedia.org.
We are honored to partner with SIFF on the first Future Wave youth programming and Fly Filmmaking workshop. We are looking for youth with some experience in filmmaking or acting, between the ages of 13 and 18. Young adults interested in participating, who are over the age of 18, are still welcome to attend as mentors!!
Longhouse Media, home of the nationally recognized youth media program Native Lens, teaches Native youth filmmaking as a form of self-expression, cultural preservation and social change.
