REMINDER: Seattle Public Library screening this Saturday, May 27


“Community Stories Episodes in Celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month”

SEATTLE – The Seattle Channel, Seattle Public Library and the Northwest Asian American Film Festival presents episodes of the Seattle Channel series Community Stories in honor of APA Heritage Month.

All four films, which showcase Seattle’s diverse APA community, are from Seattle Channel's Community Stories series. The films will screen at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 27 at the Seattle Public Library, Central Library, 1000 Fourth Avenue, Seattle, WA 98104-1109.

The featured episodes are as follows:

"Blue Scholars"
Emcee George "Geologic" Quibuyen and DJ Alexei "Sabzi" Saba Mohajerjasbi as the hip hop duo, Blue Scholars, whose body of work is deeply influenced by their heritages and is also about local, national, and global issues.

"Uncle Jimmy"
Ninety-one year old James Mar carries on the tradition of his family’s store in the International District, which has acted as an unofficial social service agency to new Chinese immigrants.

"From Yoomee to Deborah"
Deborah Jean Yoomee Ko Miller Warren's mix of heritages and histories has inspired her to help other international adoptees on their own journeys.

"Aquarium Kids"
The unique personalities and life histories of interns Sam, Shun and Savy illustrate a diversity that enriches the lives of the Seattle Aquarium’s staff and visitors.
